  • Protect the interests of our customers, partners, employees and other stakeholders.

In order to prevent possible damage, violations in the organization must be detected as early as possible. This is the only way to take the necessary countermeasures in time.

Therefore, everyone has access to an internal reporting system through which infringements and non-compliances can be reported.

You should bear in mind that this system should not be used to present complaints related to the interests and rights legally recognized by your condition as policyholder, insured or beneficiary. To do so, you can contact our customer service department.

Markel takes all communications received seriously and investigates the facts. Infringements will not be tolerated. At the same time, we protect the persons concerned against possible communications made in bad faith.

Principles of the reports management process

All investigations will be conducted in a professional manner and in accordance with our Code of Conduct, and the following principles will apply:

  • Confidentiality of the identity of the whistleblower and of any person mentioned in the report, preventing access to any unauthorized personnel.
  • Protection against retaliation against those making reports in good faith.
  • Respect for the principle of the presumption of innocence and the right of defense of the persons concerned.
  • Independence, impartiality and absence of conflict of interest of the person responsible to carry out the investigation.
  • Acknowledgement of receipt of the report to the whistleblower within seven calendar days and resolution of the investigation within a maximum of three months from e acknowledgment of receipt. In cases of particular complexity, the time limit may be extended up to a maximum of further three months.
  • Possibility to maintain communication with the whistleblower and to request additional information.
  • Compliance with personal data protection requirements throughout the investigation process.
